FROM BIRMINGHAM TO GLOBALIZATION: THE ODYSSEY OF CULTURAL STUDIES AND THE HYBRID IDENTITY OF K-POP

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan sejarah dan perkembangan Kajian Budaya dari Mazhab Birmingham hingga konteks global, serta mengkaji penerapannya dalam analisis studi kasus. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah bagaimana teori-teori cultural studies, yang bersifat interdisipliner dan senantiasa dinamis, berkembang seiring dengan perubahan budaya yang terus direproduksi setiap harinya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis kualitatif-deskriptif dengan pendekatan historis dan studi kasus, yang juga berfokus pada fenomena K-pop sebagai representasi budaya hibrida yang bernegosiasi dengan kapitalisme global. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa meskipun teori-teori dasar Hoggart, Williams, dan Hall tetap menjadi pilar utama, cultural studies telah berkembang sesuai dengan dinamika teknologi, media digital, dan komunikasi transnasional. Dari analisis studi kasus yang dilakukan, juga terlihat bahwa K-pop telah berhasil menciptakan identitas budaya hibrida yang diterima secara luas di pasar internasional dengan menggabungkan nilai-nilai tradisional Korea dengan strategi produksi global. Hal ini menunjukkan bagaimana praktik-praktik budaya dapat mempertahankan karakteristik lokalnya sekaligus beradaptasi dengan perkembangan globalisasi. Studi ini lebih lanjut berpendapat bahwa budaya kontemporer, yang berasal dari gagasan klasik Hoggart, Williams, dan Hall, sekarang menekankan pembentukan makna dan dinamika pertukaran budaya di era digital.
